Ceramics and Industry Residency: Early Career UK Makers
Victoria and Albert Museum in collaboration with 1882 Ltd.
Applicants must be available from 13 April – 2 October 2015
The V&A is inviting applications from early-career UK-based studio ceramicists (around 2-5 years since MA, or 5-10 years since BA) who wish to develop experience of ceramic design in an industrial context. Applicants should also have a particular interest in working with the V&A’s collections and taking part in public engagement activities.
For this residency, the successful applicant will develop designs and prototypes for ceramic objects suitable for a series or small collection of designs using industrial techniques.
The Residency will be based in a purpose-built studio in the Ceramics galleries, at the V&A in London. The residency will include regular visits to Stoke-On-Trent where the resident will increase their understanding of model-making and production through the development of their design proposals. It will take place over a six-month period from 13 April – 2 October 2015 and is open to UK-based practitioners. It will provide a monthly bursary (taxable) and additional budget for materials needed for any public facing activities and for the development of their designs in Stoke-On-Trent.
We are interested in practitioners who wish to work with the Museum’s resources and collections and would welcome the opportunity to actively work on projects with the public. Applicants should have a track record of innovation and regular exposure of new work, and be able to demonstrate ongoing development in their practice.
