Jesus & The Pope
For Frieze 2024, the internationally acclaimed singer and songwriter Robbie Williams debuted three imaginative, dynamic and technicolour ceramic artworks made in collaboration with design driven contemporary ceramics brand 1882 Ltd.
Inspired by two drawings by Williams of Jesus and The Pope, the pieces have been brought to life by the masterful hands of 1882 Ltd.’s potters based in Stoke-on-Trent, not only the historical epicentre of British pottery but Williams’ childhood hometown.
“I'm from Stoke and we are the potteries and it's what we are famous for. And it's what has given us relevance on the map, in the UK and around the world. It is ingrained in me – we are of clay.” Robbie Williams
